You forgot trespassing, identity fraud, obstruction of justice, jay walking, jail-breaking, accessory to everything Abu did (even more so if he trained Abu or if Abu already had those skill sets when they hooked up), squatting, and slavery.

Also all the Prince paraphernalia is kinda sketchy. I mean were all those people magical constructs that eventually vanished? Or were they real people that were created, and if so were they compelled to follow Aladdin's orders? Did the money he was tossing to people in the streets disappear? Did a sudden influx of wealth screw with the market at all if it stayed?

Legalities aside, Aladdin is pretty clearly Chaotic Good.

Not gonna try to rain on your parade but the entire slavery thing weirds me out. A genie is a genie. They exist to grant wishes and Aladdin set him free in the end.
If you were referring to his magical servants - pretty sure Jasmine, or more like her dad, had plenty of real ones ;)

He's clearly a sentient being who can make his own choices. He doesn't exist to grant wishes, he's being forced to by whatever cosmic force that put those cuffs on him. I mean Aladdin is certainly nicer about the wish thing, especially after we see how Jafar treats him, but I'd still call the genie being forced into servitude against his wishes and Aladdin does take advantage of that. I mean he could have set him free then and there, and then the genie could have just helped him of his own free will. At that point they would have been peers.

And yet the genie begs Aladdin to wish for stuff. He even sings a song about it. Sure, he wants to be free, but he also wants to help Aladdin. That's why they made the deal with two wishes for Aladdin and the third for freeing the genie.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this.

If you're wondering how they eat and breathe

And other magic facts

Just remember it's just a Disney movie

You should really just relax

LOL. This actually is me relaxed and having fun. I wrote it feeling very tongue-in-cheek. I can understand if it's not everyone's cup of tea.

It's okay. She's just looking for material everywhere to make snide remarks and feel clever. Pretty sure she's unable to detect any sarcasm or irony that's not her own lol

It's so sweet how you want us to be so monstorous. I hope we can live up to your ideals (So one of us can sleep with you)

(Anonymous) 2013-06-20 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I love you.

Eh, I always went with the theory that, magical or real, Aladin sent them away pretty soon after showing up under the 'I don't want to impose too much by forcing you to provide for all of them' - and they went back to where-ever they were from [with pay...Yeah, I was a weird kid] or didn't exist anymore.

Re: wealth...Well, if you mean the money he threw out to the crowd, chances are no one person got more than a few coins - and most probably didn't actually get any. It'd probably with the market prices for a while, but I doubt that it would cause anything that couldn't be recovered from relatively easily.

If you mean Aladdin specifically, I kind of doubt he had any reason to really spend any money before Jafar wished it away. He was staying at the palace, so chances are he didn't have much occasion to actually need to buy a whole lot.

tl;dr: I just assumed they got paid for their work, and that while the money might mess with it for a little bit, I can't see enough having been concentrated on any one thing to screw it up long term.

Ok I re-watched that bit, and you're right, I'd say no one got more then a few coins. I kinda remembered a lot more gold throwing, I don't know why.

As a kid I kinda assumed all the genie created people were just life-like puppets the genie could create and animate at will. And they just kinda poof'd when Jafar slammed the door on them. Your version is much more benevolent :)
