idk, I've known people who love their own children to death but aren't really all that fond of other people's kids. It's like how a lot of parents are perfectly fine with changing their own kid's disgusting diaper or they laugh it off when their child throws up in their mouth but if it's someone else's child, then it becomes vile. It's an evolutionary thing.

I understand that that happens, but if you already dislike children, I don't see why you'd chance liking your own when you don't need to? Seems a bit reckless.

Like the anon above me said, it's an evolutionary thing. With some unfortunate exceptions I grant you, most parents would lay down their lives for their kids, but obviously they wouldn't be (as) willing to do that for some shrieking hellspawn they've never laid eyes on before.

Meh I think people get a lot more chill about kids in general when they become parents (totally my own theory I might be wrong) but that doesn't mean they fall head over heels in love with every kid ever ... neither does it mean they hate every other kid but their own.

I think all sides in this discussion might be looking at things from too either/or of a perspective. The real world is shades of grey, yadda yadda yadda. I would also be willing to bet most if not all of us on the thread don't have kids, and therefore have no idea what we're talking about, not really. (I include myself in this.)

I never SAID people have to love every kid ever, just that thinking every kid ever besides your own is a little shit is a pretty egocentric way of thinking. Really any opinion about kids, you can replace the word "kids" with "people" and then step back and re-evaluate to see it in its proper light, because kids are just younger people and yeah some of them are shitheads but most aren't?

You may be right that people feel differently about children when they have their own but it's kind of odd for someone who hates kids to decide to have their own, usually people who hate children elect not to have any so they don't have to constantly be surrounded by children

I don't know why you feel the need to pull the cat's tail over this, childings, but maybe you can take a sec to explain where you're coming from? I get the "oldest of four" and "surrounded by kids", sounds like you were a proxy parent of some sort? If I am wrong, I apologize, but something isn't right; you don't normally take such an aggressive tone.

She has her days where she's the trolliest and most insulting user on here. The weird thing is other days she's super nice, so you forget about her weird rudeness until threads like this give you the shock of remembering. So yeah, not normally this aggressive but it's not exactly abnormal either.

It's only trolling if they are trying to tick you off. It's usually not trolling when they mean every word*. That's a differing opinion.

*Some people, of course, know they are saying something to the wrong crowd but still believe it. They are still trolls.
