Thank you so much for your concern.
My children are going to be planned and "no accidents". I personally think you have to be responsible when having sex.
My children will grow up in a non-smoking, non-drinking, no drugs and non-violent environment - in a new-built house and a garden. We also own 2 cats so they can learn how to live with animals, something I couldn't have.
We have no financial problems and I am willing to shut down my career for some years because I would rather raise them by myself than putting the little children into a day care, like some other parents do. I want to cook them healthy meals, look on their weight and do the homework together. If they show interest in learning how to play a musical instrument, I will support them. I have a Shamisen they can play with, too. My husband enjoys railway stuff and classical music, so there might be a chance our children will find interest in it too. We both like traveling and taking photos.
They will grow up bilingual at least and if they want, they can go later to an university in my home country or anywhere else (I don't force them nor will I judge them for their career choices, not like my own parents).

Are you or the others able to give this to your children? No? Then shut up.

Do you know you only have about five years left to have even children before you have to start worrying about birth defects and prematurity and stuff like that? You've got a pretty complicated ridiculously detailed life plan here and let me tell you hardly anyone gets all of their shit together before they have children.

Good god, you are being so unbearably rude it's actually baffling. Someone has a different way of thinking to you and instead of actually listening to them(you've completely ignored that they've said 'if' and not 'when' to their potential child's interests) you're insulting them and tearing them down based on the small amounts of information that they have given you in an online forum.

That sounds like a...normal, non-helicopter parent tbh. What kind of shitty family do you have? And while the risks during pregnancy are greater at age 35, it's still about a 1 in 400 chance for down syndrome and a 1 in 200 chance for other various birth defects so it's not exactly...dire, expecially since medicine has advanced over the years. It really starts getting dicey around 45, but even then there's a pretty decent chance your kid will be okay. Jesus, what is even wrong with you tonight.

I don't really understand why my comment seems to be such a big deal though. I am just a dreamer - but we're going to move into our house in a few months and I want to have children and want the best for them.

It is ok for my perfect children to have problems. I have problems, you have problems, we all have problems. I will support them.

And if they start to like the music of Rammstein, Feindflug or Hocico and start to dress in black, get tattoos and piercings and want to go to Wacken Open Air I will say "Like me in the past, I am proud of you child!"

idk, I've known people who love their own children to death but aren't really all that fond of other people's kids. It's like how a lot of parents are perfectly fine with changing their own kid's disgusting diaper or they laugh it off when their child throws up in their mouth but if it's someone else's child, then it becomes vile. It's an evolutionary thing.

I understand that that happens, but if you already dislike children, I don't see why you'd chance liking your own when you don't need to? Seems a bit reckless.

Meh I think people get a lot more chill about kids in general when they become parents (totally my own theory I might be wrong) but that doesn't mean they fall head over heels in love with every kid ever ... neither does it mean they hate every other kid but their own.

I think all sides in this discussion might be looking at things from too either/or of a perspective. The real world is shades of grey, yadda yadda yadda. I would also be willing to bet most if not all of us on the thread don't have kids, and therefore have no idea what we're talking about, not really. (I include myself in this.)

I never SAID people have to love every kid ever, just that thinking every kid ever besides your own is a little shit is a pretty egocentric way of thinking. Really any opinion about kids, you can replace the word "kids" with "people" and then step back and re-evaluate to see it in its proper light, because kids are just younger people and yeah some of them are shitheads but most aren't?

You may be right that people feel differently about children when they have their own but it's kind of odd for someone who hates kids to decide to have their own, usually people who hate children elect not to have any so they don't have to constantly be surrounded by children
