Thai food--or at least the Thai food I can get in my part of the midwest. Everybody raves about it and I'm just...meh.

I'm sure that eating a home-cooked Thai meal--or dining at the kind of Thai restaurant you might find in New York or LA--could change my mind. But my point stands--because the sort of Thai food you can get in Des Moines or Cedar Rapids is the sort of Thai food my friends used to rave about. In fact, they treated liking it as if it marked the difference between sophisticates and rubes.

TBH, my distaste for Thai food might well have something to do with the company in which I invariably seemed to eat it.

Should add that I'm using "friends" fairly loosly here. I don't go around with these people anymore, and my life is pleasanter.
