Real Life Things You Hate That Everyone Else Seems to Love

I hate both steak and baked potatoes. Which is odd because it seems like everyone I know loves them (at least in my family).

But I hate fat and steaks often have fat.

And I hate baked potatoes because you can never get each piece of potato covered in delicious butter. I usually end up peeling my baked potato (usually burning my fingers), so I can mash them up.

What are some things in real life you hate that everyone else seems to love (they don't have to be food)?

Corn on the cob. I realize everyone around me loves it but I just don't. I just don't like corn, period. This is really odd, at least in the US.

yuck. I hate the way it tastes and the way it makes me feel.

Also I hate how not liking alcohol makes people think I'm a prude or that I don't drink because of religion or that I'm trying to be "good" or some shit.

But I am pretty sure I am going to love my own very much.

Mobile phones or smart phones.
(But then I have to say I am the type of person who wishes to live on her own island, alone, anyway.)

Drinking beer and alcohol in general.

Hate the taste. Too bitter, bitter, bitter. And I hate the "buzz." Never liked feeling loopy. Ugh. Give me a nice old fashion bottle of soda instead. Boylan's or Stewarts and I am happy.

Actually while I'm here I'm just going to come right out and say it -- I think sports is the most fucking useless thing we could ever spend tax money on. I'd rather my taxes go to improving schools and keeping libraries open and funding cancer research, thanks.

Another nonny on the "cannot tolerate the taste of alcohol" bandwagon here. I can't even stand the SMELL it's like sticking your nose in a glass of paint thinner.

Alcohol used in cooking tastes fine to me, no problem, likely because the bad-tasting alcohol has been cooked out.

Anything involving cooked fruit. Which leaves out most pies, and several other baked goods. It just changes the taste in a way that's unpleasant, and completely wrecks the texture. I could handle apple pie if the apples didn't get so slimy. I will take my fruit raw, plz.

Clubs and dancing. I hate super loud music (unless I am at a concert) and I just tend to get really bored. I'm also already partially deaf and I hate when my friends drag me to loud bars or clubs and I can't hear a damn thing they're saying. I also hate being surrounded by strangers at clubs.

I'd rather drink and dance at house parties with people I know where we can hear each other and I don't have to deal with creepers.

Beaches.

I don't get the allure of most beaches or taking a vacation that primarily consists of sitting on a beach. I can sit around and read at home. If I'm spending money on a trip, I want to go see something interesting, not just sit there. I don't like swimming in salt water because I always feel gross and sticky afterward. (Freshwater lakes are fine, though.) Sand gets everywhere. Then there's the UV exposure. I don't want to lie there and bake myself and even if I did, again I can do that at home.

I only really like beaches for taking walks, and the best beaches for this are relatively empty and have some kind of inland scenery, like bluffs or forests, and they are best when it's chilly and blustery out. In other words, not a crowded tourist beach in summer.

Loud music, socialization for socialization's sake, blandly sweet things, anything overly luxurious, small talk, store employees that acknowledge you before you get to the checkout, and Facebook even though I've never actually used it.

swimming. Sunburn, swimmer's ear, and either smelling like chlorine all day or having sand in your buttcrack = no fun for me.

In reality I think the fact that my dad used to force me to stay in the pool from sunup to sundown when I was a kid probably led to this hatred lol

I hate butter. It's fucking nasty. All I can taste is how slick and greasy it is. Cheddar cheese for similar reasons - it's so oily, and melting it just makes that worse.

I love baked potatos because you can mash them up yourself, get them the consistency you want, and add in tons of butter and stuff--and it's still in the peel so it doesn't go all over the place! So nice and neat. :D

In keeping with the food theme, I haaaaate having any kind of condiments on sandwiches, but everyone I know thinks I'm crazy for this. I just... don't like complicated food, or something, idk. Don't judge me.

I hate nearly all kinds of potatoes, gimmie mashed or roasted and I'm good.

Beach holidays, I got so bored so very quickly.

Clubs, loads of my friends love them and I don't get the appeal, but I am not comfortable in large crowds so clubs are pretty much a nightmare for me.

Mushrooms, I really hate them and they're probably the only type of food that I refuse to eat.

I have a love-hate relationship with cheese :|a I dislike cheese on burgers and stuff, but there are cheesy dishes I like, and I'm a sucker for fancy cheese. But I always tell people I don't like cheese because they always mean the crappy cheap cheese and ew, no, get it away. Also they go all, "OMG HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE CHEESE?!" and I get to be all "NOT EVERYBODY LIKES SHIT YOU LIKE." Except not really because I just cop out and tell people I'm lactose intolerant - which is technically true, but it only acts up in reaction to milk or too much ice cream. The heaviness of cheese dishes gets to me before the dairy.

I also used to hate bell peppers, but then I stopped drinking so much soda and food became tasty and my partner fed me red bell pepper and now I love them o3o

Other than that, I don't like alcohol, children, vomit jokes, Mark of Mark Does Stuff, Family Guy, or PCs.

CassandraOfTroy mentioned cooked fruit and it made me remember one I don't like: 85% of dishes of meat with fruit. Small things are fine- applesauce or similar in a sauce mostly tasting of other things, a small amount of raisins/other chopped dried fruit. Citrus is usually fine because I feel it goes more savory than most other fruits.

But if it's a big scoop of cooked apples/plums/apricots/cherries etc, I am generally not a fan. It probably does depend a lot on the ratio of them in the dish, but I think they overwhelm very quickly.

Also, ebooks. No, I am not a hipster who hates everything new and shiny. Yes, I'm aware that they're convenient if you travel a lot and don't want to lug around a bunch of heavy books. I can't read them for long periods of time without getting a headache, and quite frankly, I find it harder to focus on and fully enjoy reading when the text is on a screen instead of paper.

Corn dogs. I think they're nasty and I've tried them so many times.

(I love baked potatoes and steak, but if a part of steak is really fatty I'll just cut it off. In some cuts that means a lot of it though...)

Also rain, Facebook, winter, and, sometimes, cars.
