Going to agree to disagree and leave it that in terms of the OP's opinion. Gargoyles is and was my favorite cartoon series, and I say this as someone who watched and enjoyed B:TAS as well.

On the other hand, if you know anything about Greg's writing, and his plans for the show, and what he was trying to do with it, and the show's back ground, it makes a lot more sense as to why it wasn't grimdark all the time every episode. As well, recall at the end of the day it is a franchise owned by Disney at a time when Disney wasn't doing things like buying out Marvel.

I'd get into my rant about why the hell aren't they publishing -more- of the Gargoyle's comic since Disney does own Marvel but that's another Fandom Secret all on its own.

Pretty much all of this.

I remember the first time I found the extended wikis with all of Greg's headcanons for the future of the series. I was pretty much torn between "wtf" and "allllrighty then."

And extra word to the Gargoyles comics. Copyright and licensing laws are tedious enough as they are, but this has been a whole different level of frustrating.

Is the headcanon info still floating around somewhere on the internet? I LOVED Gargoyles, but this was pretty much pre-internet time for me having grown up below poverty level ... I keep running into mentions of plans Weisman had, but they seem all in bits and pieces around the web ...

I think most of it is here. I loved the show like mad as a kid, and later as a teen, but I missed out on the internet scene while the fandom was still viable, but from what I've gathered, most of his answers are there.

Ah, shoot, now you've got me all sad about not getting to see the rest of the story. The Slave Labor Graphics comics were kinda bad(ly drawn) and almost impossibly to find. And then Disney was doing stuff with BOOM, and Darkwing Duck was so good that I thought surely, SURELY we'd see some more.

...but no.

And now there's Marvel. Who already did a Gargoyles comic once. But seriously, it just really needs to happen. I gave up on more Firefly ages ago, but I'm not sure that I'll ever give up on more Gargoyles.

(Is it sad that I mostly just want to find out about Owen's girlfriend, because I want to know everything that that relationship implies about Owen?)
