You don't have anything to feel embarrassed about, OP -- you wouldn't have anything to feel embarrassed about if you were experiencing physical pain from a broken leg, and depression is as legitimate a medical condition as any physical injury or illness.

I'm sorry that going to the doctor made you feel worse. I don't know if that's because it didn't help, or because it poked around in the things that were at the core of making you feel bad, but I hope that you feel better soon, and that something useful will come out of your doctor visit. I don't know much about the Chicago area, but I hope you find someplace that can help you.
