Re: OP
(Anonymous) 2013-06-23 11:38 am (UTC)(link)Apparently, I was fully in cartoon-watching mode when Gargoyles was on. I remember hearing nothing about this show. Nostalgia doesn't work if you can't even remember the damn show.
Granted, if it wasn't Animaniacs, I probably didn't give a fuck.

Re: OP
(Anonymous) 2013-06-23 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)Definitely had Disney Channel when it was airing, so that wouldn't be the issue. Wiki says it was syndicated, so it was probably on Fox.
I watched Aladdin, BTAS, Xmen, and Animaniacs around 1994. I didn't typically watch shows unless the boys in my class were raving about it. Maybe Gargoyles just wasn't very popular in my school?
Re: OP
I think mostly, I just balk at the idea of "Well, I never heard of it, so it probably wasn't that good." I consider myself an animation nerd too (heck, I went to one of the nerdier colleges surrounded by other animation nerds), and I didn't know about, say, Justice League as a cartoon until I was in my 20's, but it's still a pretty brilliant show. Same goes for Static Shock and a handful of other shows that were relevant during my childhood. There's plenty of reasons not to know about a show.
Re: OP
Also, I never watched Fox. Most of their shows just...didn't appeal to me.
Re: OP
Wait. X-men? No X-men?
Re: OP
(Anonymous) 2013-06-24 04:15 am (UTC)(link)Well, wait....what channel was TMNT on?
