I don't always like the optimistic hero type, but Sakura just works for me, I'm not sure why. I think it's because she's genuine and doesn't fall into certain tropes that bug me, I don't know, she's just cute?

I wouldn't argue that she's the most interesting character ever, but the overall CCS plot makes up for whatever she lacks.

I remember thinking "damn, this girl is too nice and perfect", but hers was an honest kind of sweetness, and then the series in general was sweet, so she ended up not standing out so much in that aspect

also, she wasn't too proud to rely on her friends or speak about what bothered her, like so many other children and teenager protagonists did (which drove me nuts; my goodness, just talk!), she was brave in a convincing way, and she loved nearly everyone so dearly and sincerely, I ended up loving her too in the end despite my misgivings
