Oh man, Cardcaptor Sakura! First show me and my best friend ever bonded over when we were 9 years old, even if it was the terrible Cardcaptors dub. And we've been friends for 13 years now.

Anyways, my happy nostalgia shoved off to the side, I think the reason she's bland is because when you're a kid, aside from any great traumas happening that spoil your childhood, you tend to generally be very sweet and happy. Any conflict, at leas the small ones, you get over very quickly or brush off. While Sakura did face a lot of things in the series, most of them revolved around the Cards. After she had sealed each card, the major conflict was over, and she could just move on and stay her positive, peppy little self. The most major things that didn't resolved quickly were her mother not being around, which they did explore a little, and Yukito not returning her feelings.
