(Anonymous) 2013-06-25 01:17 am (UTC)(link)Partly because I mostly grew up on TNG, but he also struck me more as a proper captain, and I enjoyed the fact that he really did seem more like a diplomatic explorer of an "enlightened" humanity.
Plus, I mean, Patrick Stewart. He's just such a classy actor and he pulls off being a Captain, a friend, and an individual and the shifts between those roles all very naturally. Kirk struck me far too much as the usual Leading Man type, and it was often a turn off.
Benjamin Sisko is the one who really has my heart tho.
