Someone once tried to illustrate the wrongs of cultural appropriation through the example of band fans getting butthurt over a non-fan buying a band t-shirt because they just happened to think it was cute. There is no possible way to make the word "appropriation" look more whiny and immature and entitled. And you just demonstrated this all over again.

Don't think they were trying to put it on the same level? I assume they mean "offended" as in "peeved" (well I hope I do or else LOL). When you're in a youth subculture, it can quite irritating to see outside attempts to imitate/package it, like that annoying NCIS goth chick, or the Big Bang Theory nerds.

Given how old the goth subculture is, I'm pretty sure the NCIS forensics chick could not only have been a goth as a teen, she probably would've had older goths rolling their eyes at the babygoth.

Much like the 30 Seconds to Mars band members may have actually been to a rave when they were teens/twentysomethings.

what i don't get is the NCIS chick is in her 40's irl. I don't know how old her character is supposed to be on the show, but since it's been on for 375783957 seasons, I'm guessing she's not exactly a babygoth.
