(Anonymous) 2013-06-27 10:09 am (UTC)(link)The movie sucked and had a bunch of plot holes, but fans have too much of a boner over Tony Stark to realize it.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-27 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)1) You're confusing the comics with the movies. Tony's alcoholism was never the big issue in the movies that it was in the comics. These are PG-13 movies, and with Disney now in charge, it's never going to happen.
2) Do you have any idea how complicated and dangerous open heart surgery is? Even in a state-of-the-art hospital, it is still a very risky procedure, which would be complicated further by the issue of the shrapnel. It was never going to be a simple thing. Plus, if you really stop and think about it, Tony was hiding behind his RT as much as he was his suits. In order to truly emerge from the cocoon (as he put it), the RT had to go, too.
The "plot holes" as you call them, aren't so much plot holes as plot points that you're supposed to be intelligent enough to figure out for yourself without being spoon fed every damn answer like a whiny 5 year old.
