I won't watch it because they took away Watson's background in the military. I actually really like Lucy Liu and the idea of a female Watson as long as she and Sherlock don't fuck.

This is exactly my reason not to watch the series. I love Lucy Liu, and I would love to see her as an ex-military doctor who has to deal with an arrogant detective. But they took Watson's background away for no reason, and I can't trust the writers that they won't add an idiotic romantic subplot between her and Sherlock. If three seasons pass and they don't fuck, then I'll think about watching it.

I've been thinking that if the series ends with them not fucking, I'll probably try watching it. But I'm not going to let myself love it and then have them get together and ruin it for me.

...I did not know that. Combined with the Adler/Moriarty spoiler revealed here recently, I feel I really dodged a bullet with this one.
