I have played at least one game from every single generation in the series - Blue, Yellow, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, FireRed, SoulSilver, Diamond, White, White II - and I personally thought that R/S/E were by far the worst games in the series. It had no feeling. I don't know how to describe it.

Incidentally, if this lend my opinion any street cred, I run a Tumblr called AlternativePokemonArt. THAT'S how much I love Pokemon. So yes, I'm still amazed by the complexity of B/BII, AND I've played Ruby.
