One of the most important parts of recovery was being able to admit to myself that NO, he did not have my consent, we did not discuss it in advance, we had no agreement to "consensual non-consent"—it was NOT BDSM.
Real BDSM is very careful to be sure that consent is present and no one is forced into something they don't want. That's the entire point. It's not supposed to be a handy linguistic cover for actual rape and abuse.
