I know nothing about this fandom, but pretentious it might be, deconstructions have always been my catnip. I love them sooooo much.

Just like how I thought, while watching Monsters Inc./University, that if doors are activated to the monster world via scream, what happens when someone screams in fear just because reasons? Not on purpose, say...somebody's being murdered in the room, and somebody bolts into the closet and finds themselves in the monster world?

I haven't seen Monsters University yet, but from what I remember of Monsters Inc. the door had to be in that machine to be activated. The metal bars that would lock in place around it and then the light would turn on? I figured that unless the door was in there and keyed to open then it wouldn't open.

What I wanted/want to know is how they get the copies of the door. Like, when a kid is born and gets a room does a door magically link to the monster world? That seems bizarre.

Weeell...I don't mean to spoil it, and I can't quite see how it would, in MU they make it sound like a scream alone can activate it, and that it can be externally activated without being plugged in per se, especially since in Monsters Inc. Boo's laughter activated the whole area full of doors...

Which just opens up a cornucopia of clusterfuck.

Right, I forgot about Boo activating all the doors. I just watched Monsters University this morning so it wasn't spoiled. Yeah, that does seem strange. Plus, now I want to see how they make the doors, since apparently a copy doesn't magically appear. How do they know what a kid's door looks like?
