I think letting the police in general know about The Supernatural would just lead to random wiccan kids getting beaten up and special camps for werewolves.

It's this massive Supernatural AU and... I don't even really know where to start. It's just... huge. And cruel.

The relevant part is that it's an AU in which the supernatural came obviously and un-ignorably to light sometime in the 1980s. Hunting was subsequently semi-institutionalized, and... Well, here: http://freac-camp.livejournal.com/899.html#cutid1 The prologue covers the background without getting into the nasty. (There is a lot of nasty. Don't go on to chapter one without going back and reading the warnings.)

There's not like one police force.

I imagine it'd vary be exactly which one was involved.
