There's this one author. She hasn't written in my fandom for a long time; she's moved on. Even so, her fics are still read and discussed regularly. I read her LiveJournal every day, though I never comment. Just in case.

I hope you've told her at least once how much her writing means to you. Don't assume that because her work is popular that hearing it again won't mean anything. It will, I promise you.

I know it sucks but sometimes when people move on, they've lost inspiration for their old fandom, so the fic consequently won't be as good as it used to be.

Still, I'd be honored to be so appreciated so definitely leave a comment or something, even if just anon.

Don't give up hope, OP.

I know I cycled back in the past couple of weeks to a fandom I haven't been active in for roughly a decade.

And revised a chapter of a WiP in said fandom that has been sitting, waiting on a USB thumb drive for that same amount of time.

I'll be interested to find out if there are actually people like you waiting for me when I publicly update. I'd be shocked, surprised, and humbled.

So you truly never know.
