It doesn't make you selfish to not reply to comments; you don't owe anyone a response. However, of course it's nice and most people appreciate one; plus, like you said, discussing your interests in fandom makes it much easier to find friends.

Anyway, I'm sorry. It can be difficult to put yourself out there. (That's understandable imo, since not all people are naturally sociable.) Still...other than forcing yourself to interact with people more (until you become more comfortable with it, and possibly even crave it), I'm not sure what to suggest. :/

I've been there, though. Good luck on overcoming it, OP.
