The manly-protective-father trope gets so old and I find it really annoying especially when the father's protectiveness starts to infringe on the daughter's choices or individuality in some way. grrrrrr. Now I really wish I had more good examples ;_;

The other one is not related at all, it's actually a pretty bad relationship but an interesting one at that (power-hungry man creates two genetically-almost-identical-to-himself-except-altered-and-with-two-X-chromosomes daughters because science; tries to control them and use them to dominate the world, but they escape and that pisses him off a lot - that's the short version of the story)
But yes, I love stories like that - coming-of-age where the father treats her like he would a son, not as in treats her like a male, but treats her like an heir to his legacy and it doesn't matter what her gender is, and is proud of her for being who she is, rather than stiflingly protective etc.
