100% pure Evangelical idiocy "christianism" unfortunately.

People in my church actually do believe garbage like the Chick Tracts. Though we never used to. We actually used to, you know, READ THE BOOK. Instead of bang other people's skulls open with it.

As bad as the Chick Tracts are, what makes them >90000 times worse is knowing that Evangelicals are exactly like this. In EVERY respect. It's not some oddball, strict fundamentalist sect, trust me, this is what they ALL believe, this is how they ALL act.

The Chick Tracts are big red warning flags of how NOT to be a Christian. Evangelicals take the Chick Tracts as their bible, instead of, yanno, THE actual Bible. When they're not busy burning Korans and Harry Potter that is. Yes. That's Right. Terry Jones is EVANGELICAL.

TL;DR: anon's church was so much better before the leaders all became Jack Chick clones

"Lisa" is one of the legendary out of print ones that isn't even on the website anymore, it's basically been excommunicated from the Chick canon (Chick would just LOVE that I used a Catholic metaphor here)

There's also an anti-gay one that I can't remember the name of that you can't read on chick.com ... I forget what it was called but I want to say "The Gay Blade" and it's super old, like from the late 70s/early 80s, anyhow I love it because there is a gay bar in the background of one panel that simply says "GAY BAR"

Woooooow. I'd never seen the "Lisa" one. I'm going to choose to interpret it as a story about a REALLY SHITTY DOCTOR who preaches at his patients rather than reporting the sexual abuse of a child to the proper authorities (are medical professionals mandated reporters, the way educators are?).

I'd say, "Gee, I wonder why," but that actually demonstrates a surprising level of self-awareness on their part. There's a part of me that wouldn't have expected someone like Jack Chick to understand that reasonable people would be legitimately upset by the idea of a child rapist getting off scot-free just because he found Jesus, and more upset by that idea being condoned by the people trying to convert them.

No no no, I misrepresented really... It was released. And people HAD a lot of problems with it. Only then it was taken down.

Yeah, that sounds more like what I'd expect. Except for the bit where Jack Chick fails to misinterpret the massive public outcry against his trivialization of child rape as "persecution" of his "message" about... how porn will make you sexually abuse your children, apparently? Then again, it was probably more a case of "bad PR" than "we fucked up on this one, huh?"

There's a part of me that would be morbidly curious to observe the thought process (for want of a better term) that goes into creating these things, and the logical gymnastics required not only to believe that porn leads to pedophilia or that D&D is an evil cult that will make your children kill themselves, but that you can make other people believe this too. But I think my brain would probably eat itself.
