Eh, did I say something wrong? o_o ?I didn't thought "trap" was offensive, I mean, anymore seeing as it's used so casually in the community (as in, TRAPheaven? And nobody ever saw anything wrong?)

Crossdressers on 4chan seem to be fine with it, but in most other communities, the typical response from crossdressers is one of hostility.

It's often impossible to accurately determine whether or not a term is offensive. Just use it until somebody objects, then switch to whatever they tell you to. In case you need to make an important speech, ask someone trustable beforehand.

I thought "traps" were either transwomen or crossdressing men who pass for women. The whole "they look like a sexy lady but OMG penis! It's a trap!"

There's a whole zeitgeist which generally implies they're not trans.

Which in itself may be problematic when taking as a whole, but overwhelmingly the approach seems to be they're men who dress as women, but without the gender dysmorphia.

Like the most famous example is Bridget from Guilty Gear, who always claims to be male, and has a whole backstory about same sex twins being unlucky in england (!) so he was raised as a girl.

Many or most people hostile to non-traditional gender expressions don't know the fucking difference. Besides, there is not as much of a distinction in some cultures. And trans* women get murdered a LOT for being "deceptive". D: D: D: IRL. Not "tumblr".

"Trap". Outside of 4chan, just... NO. SO harmful, fatally so.

"Trap" means a character who dresses/presents as female but is actually male. The other way around is, of course, a reverse trap. Comes from 4chan.

And sometimes people use it for a male character that they think "looks feminine". Tieria (Gundam 00) got called it all the goddamn time.

If he was a Real Life person, he'd be the only trap I would seriously consider to date, mostly because he averts the hyper and moe attitude that anime traps tend to have. I just can't stand that. (Also, the Gothic Lolita style is a big plus.]

I went with "he" as a pronoun since I'm not sure if the character is presenting as female, is crossdressing while still wanting to present as male, or what. I keep finding different descriptions on the internet. No offense was intended.

Welp, I have to say it, gotta love how people just outright missed the point of the secret and instead discuss the use of the term "trap"...I'm sorry if that was offensive but, really?

The point of the secret didn't have much substance, though. Seriously, if it weren't for the trap/trans/crossdressing/whatever context, this would probably have been relegated to the failbar as an 'I'd hit it' secret.
