Secret N°4 Inspired: Share with us your favorite cocktail recipes! :D

[personal profile] lynx 2013-07-04 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
I love making cocktails, and I'd dare say I'm quite good at them. But I only know the most traditional ones. Do you have any favorites? Wanna trade recipes?

Aditionally: Any wine cépage you're fond of? I'll start!

The mojito recipe my family makes

[personal profile] lynx 2013-07-04 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
- Spearmint. (IT'S IMPORTANT TO USE SPEARMINT AND NOT PLAIN MINT)
- Lime juice.
- White Rum.
- Club Soda.
- 2 teaspoonfuls of sugar
- 2 ice cubes

Mix in a collins glass a stick of spearmint with plenty of leaves, the sugar and lime juice enough to fill the glass to 1/5 of its capacity, using a muddler to crush the leaves of spearmint with the sugar and juice. Add white rum until the glass is full to 1/3 of its capacity. Crush the leaves some more, let them absorb the rum. Let it sit for a minute too.

Add the ice cubes, finish filling with club water.

It's a recipe you do not so much measuring as mixing the elements to taste, and it's quite strong :'D

The Not-Living-Up-To-My-Full-Potential Grad School Shandy

[personal profile] chardmonster 2013-07-04 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
In the US, a shandy is usually half lemonade, half beer. Nice fancy recipes will call for real, good lemonade and light-tasting beer. This is delicious--try it!

So I looked at what I had in my little apartment kitchen and mixed half Crystal Light margarita punch (five calories!) and half Bud Light Premium. I'm not proud. But it tastes good damn it.

I think your recipe would function marvelously, to be honest 8D

Wine Rec!

[personal profile] lynx 2013-07-04 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Wine: Red
Country: Chile
Cépage: Cabernet Sauvingnon
Name: Marques de Casa Concha
Winery: Viña Concha y Toro

Best cabernet I've ever had for a quite affordable price. Even: It's cheaper in the US than in Chile. It's around 11 USD there!

It's a thick wine with a berry flavor a really rich aftertaste <333 I absolutely love it!

No specific label, but I like mead. It tends to be sweeter than a lot of wines but usually less sweet than a riesling, which I sometimes find too sweet.

For the record, mead is supposed to be pretty easy to make! You just need lots and lots of honey (getting this might be the hard part) and wine yeast.

I don't know where you are but I'm in Florida and we can get mead at almost any big alcohol supplier (e.g.: ABC Liquors) If you look for mead suppliers in your market area online, they usually list their distributors. Call the distributor and find out who carries it in your area.

It's not a bad beverage.

I just bought some pinot noir rose today, from a local winery here in MA. I don't like wine that much as a rule but rose can be amazing.

I am so haphazard about cocktails. I just mix things as I go. Lately, limoncello with pomegranate schnapps, vodka and lemonade is a favourite.

There's an Asian restaurant near here that serves saketinis - isn't that amazing!
