There are lots of things that make me sadder than seeing feminists defend the asari. It's not especially important, as far as personal causes go. It's still a fucked up thing for me to come across during my day, though...

Tali I'll give you. I'd put Liara as one of the most hated characters of the series, possibly right below Starchild. (Certainly above Allers who's so bad, she's just ignored.)

Liara, I find, is the most polarizing character in the franchise. You either hate her guts or you love her to death. There seems to be nobody right in the middle.

I would have loved for Wrex and Grunt to have been romanceable. Wrex's sass + Shepard's sass would have been unstoppable.

I hate how if you hate either of these two, or any Asari at all, really, people consider you sexist. I'm not sexist, I like most of the female characters in this series. I just really despise Liara and Tali and I don't like the Asari at all. Not because they're women, but because the Asari creep me the hell out, Liara won't stop bothering my Shepard, and I just plain don't like purple or blue. I'm not sexist, I'm just a very petty woman.

Secret because some people will crucify you if you say something bad about Tali or Liara.

Bonus secret: I'm still pissed I couldn't romance Grunt or Wrex. There was chemistry there, damn it.

Eh, I don't mind either character. Liara is only annoying in how ME3 shoves her at you all the time. The Asari I like ...sort of. I'm pissed off at how in ME3 you are meant to be all cut-up about the destruction of Thessia, except...well, its partly their own fault for hoarding the beacon for all this time.

Well still there's millions or billions of civilians who didn't ask for that, I can never get behind the argument that people deserve suffering because of the actions of their government.

As for Liara and the Asari themselves? I like them well enough I have some serious issues with how their handled at points, but I like a lot of them as characters.

I hate how Liara is supposed to be the most powerful information broker in the galaxy, and she knows and what has happened to earth and palaven and yet she's still so SHOCKED at what is happening to thessia.

When she's crying in her cabin after that mission and she asks if she just expected the Asari to be ready I just remember screaming at my screen "Yes you dumb bitch. You obviously did!" I hate her so much.

Well OP, hating Ashley also makes one sexist according to many ME fans.

That's an... interesting reason not to like them, but to each their own I guess. Honestly Liara could have the best character design I've ever seen and she'd still annoy me because of the way she was written.

i let kaidan die my second playthrough and i regretted it a lot because ashley bothers me. she's racist as hell, i mean i know she kinda improves (or stops talking about racist things at the very least) as the trilogy progress but there's plenty of valid reasons not to like her imo.

I've known more Liara haters than likers and I have never seen anyone defend the sexist elements of the asari. You need to find a different social circle, OP, because yours is weirdly rare one.

As for Tali, if you don't like her, okay, whatever, but the only people who I have seen give people shit for not liking her are those who like to pretend Tali is their perfect waifu or something. And those people are never ones who you want to give serious weight to their opinions.

I reserve the right to think it's really stupid for you to dislike a character based on color scheme though. Not that you're stupid, just the justification is.

So... yeah... have fun not liking the characters and meet more people who don't like them? Because they're out there. They're definitely out there. You just may want to leave out the color thing.

i don't dislike liara but overall the asari are one of my least fav alien races. i don't hate them or anything, they're just less interesting to me in general i guess?? plus i can't help but feel they were implemented for male gazes. overall i just think the asari could have been a lot more interesting, had bioware worked on them a little more. idk. i still like them tho, samara is my queen.

i really like the quarians, tali included. i get why some people aren't a fan of her, she does seem a little flat character-wise. liara is kind of that way too. idk why people apparently assume you're sexist or whatever for not liking two relatively mary sueish characters.

eta: also tali isn't really purple, it's just her mask. bioware fucked up big time and gave us a canon (if you still wanna consider it that) view of what she looks like before they removed it from the game cuz everyone threw a fit about how human she looks. plus they took a stockphoto picture and just edited her fingers and shit lmao

I really really hated Liara. I hate that they kind of pushed her as *the* love interest (noticeable in the first game, but egregious in the third). Her voice also got on my nerves, as well as her speaking patterns.

Tali, on the other hand, is adorable and I love her and I want to give her the BIGGEST HUG EVER. ಥ_ಥ

I'm not a big Liara fan either. She has her moments - there are no ME characters I HATE, except like, Udina - but overall I just spend half my time shouting at the screen "STOP HITTING ON ME" and it gets really annoying. Tali, OTOH, I want to hug and love and marry and please be miiiiiine why aren't you romance-able for fem!shep????

And the Asari generally.... well, I love Matriarch Aethyta. Like, a lot. But most of them bore me a little.

Also, so SO agreed on wanting to romance Wrex. I always felt a bit more motherly to Grunt, since in many ways he was still like, a kid or a teenager or something, but even despite that, I probably wouldn't have turned down a romance with him. I just heart the Krogan generally so very much.
