Eh, there actually are plenty of decent, well paying jobs that don't require a college degree - and usually in fields that aren't full to the brim because they also happen to be blue collar jobs - which tend to be looked down upon because of reasons.

Seriously though, OP, if you're willing to get certified in something like plumbing or as a electrician you can make a lot, even more if you go up to being a Master of that trade.

Eh.

They can be traps. It's a very specific non-transferable skill set, that you get trapped in if you find yourself bored of it after five or ten years, leaves you at risk of devaluation due to external influences, and has very little career progression outside setting up your own business.

Go for the degree, and then go into a trade just to help your options unless you're going to be big style in debt.

I'm not arguing that - just pointing out that there are prefectly valid 'good' careers that don't need a degree..and, as far as pay does, at least my country there's actually a pretty big shortage of workers in these fields/people going into these fields. Plus min. wage is usually a good 2-3x actual min. wage here. But...that may just be where I live.
