I haven't seen it yet but LOL at the Dark Knight being the standard for good comic book movies.

Pretty much.

Don't get me wrong, the movie was "dark" or whatever, but it was still pretty predictable and formulaic almost the whole way through. It was new to people at the time.

Really? It was predictable for the hero to be viewed as the villain and the main love interest to die in a superhero movie?

I don't like the 'dark and edgy' kind of superhero movies very much, but TDK was probably the best result you could get with that approach.

golden standard for superhero movies has to be Superman (Christopher Reeves) and Iron Man.
