I liked it, and I especially liked that it wasn't more of the same, which apparently is what the detractors seem to want. The Chris Reeves movies are right there if you want them, and this needed to be different, just like when Nolan rebooted Batman -- you didn't want to go in there and see a version that was just like Burton's. That's why I couldn't bring myself to like Spider-Man last year: even though it did so many things right, so much of it still felt like a rehash of the previous films.

Just because it is different doesn't mean it is good. There have been a lot of different Superman tales, in virtually every medium, but they are of varying quality. MoS is not bad because it is different, it is bad because it is a quantifiably bad movie. It fails on everything from characterization to basic story telling and editing. The only thing it does well in is CGi. If you want to defend a movie because CGi is good, then you are going to have to accept Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen as a masterpiece.
