Re: Non-fandom secrets

I'm seriously considering taking my own virginity this year because I'm not that interested in sex with other people (and won't be getting any in the near future anyway) but really want to experience as much sexual pleasure as my body is capable of. I feel like I have every right to do so, being 22 years old and pretty much grown-up mentally, and the idea actually excites me. But executing it would be against my religion (with which I for now respectfully "agreed to disagree" on this issue... in my mind, I mean) and rather conservative upbringing, so I'm still nervous.

As somebody who grew up in a very conservative religious family who agrees to disagree with traditional views of sexuality taught within that religion: I did this exact thing last year when I was 19, and it has been perhaps the best choice I've made in my life up until then. I'm not even kidding. The whole taking-advantage-of-sexual-capability thing is awesome, of course, but getting acquainted with my sexuality in an active way has allowed me to change and mature in ways I didn't realize it would, and it's a wonderful, wonderful thing.

it's probably better to try it yourself than to have sex with someone you don't find sexually attractive

If you'd take the word of someone you did it...

You'll still be a "virgin" in the sense you will not have had sex with another person. The hymen can get broken by so many things it's not really a measure of purity.

As for breaking it yourself, it's so worth it. Seriously. Because in actual sex, even if your partner is extra careful, there's still kind of a time limit. Whereas, when you do it yourself, you can go as slowly as you want, stretch yourself for days, every time a little more at a time, until you can take one, two, three fingers, then a small vibe...

Don't go and shove anything without being wet or adecquately lubed (lots of lube are actually recommended!), and enjoy yourself, sweetheart. Take your time and you'll be fine. There are places online that sell "training" sets of dildos, even, to get used to the feeling of having something inside, and being able to take more. (Though I always advise to get stuff from an adult store you can physically visit, to take a good look and touch what you're buying.)

All I can say is I did myself and don't regret it. I was mostly motivated by a desire to take my body and sexuality back but i would say it was one of the better life choices I've made in several ways.

I don't understand what it means to "take your own virginity". Does not compute.

You can't take your own virginity

At least not in the conventional definition, as that involves sex with another person. For most people, involving another person is the scary/daring part.

So--you can masturbate all you want, and still be a virgin! There's nothing wrong with being a virgin, anon.

Yeah, this is confusing me a little.

You can't "take your own virginity", OP, but if you want to start masturbating, go for it!

Sexual self-exploration is awesome and you should feel awesome about it, OP.
