Re: Disney's Frozen-So many different issues

I have no interest in CGI-movies so I know nothing about this one, but I gotta say I'm surprised that people are surprised. I mean, Disney doesn't exactly have a good track record when it comes to staying faithful to the original stories! Just take a look at The Jungle Book, The Hunchback Of Notre Dame, and so on.

Yeah, I mean, Disney's never been 100% (or even 50%) faithful to the source material, but in the case of Frozen, it seems the only thing it has in common with The Snow Queen is that there is a character named the Snow Queen. That's it. Not the same story, not the same characters, nothing.

Yeah, I do know what you mean -- I'm a big fan of H.C. Andersen! For me, I guess I'd just rather not see the characters I love at all rather than see them completely distorted (like in the case of Kaa).

In fairness, a lot of the stories they changed in the past were pretty dark so the changes were understandable [Sleeping Beauty waking up because she's in labor after being raped in her sleep? Not something that should be included in a kids movie].

This though...iirc the original story correctly, there was next to nothing like that - or what there was could have been edited out with minor changes. So I can see why some people are surprised.

That said, personally I'm more disappointed than surprised - particularly with making most of the cast male.

Those ones, at least the majority of characters were the same and the plot had been changed (to be lighter, nice endings, but was still along the same theme)

Frozen? Well, I guess it's a snow filled area and there's a snow queen...but nothing, not even the plot, is particularly familiar. :/
