I used to be really insecure about my appearance so to make myself feel better I'd say a lot of jokingly-arrogant things to make myself feel better and I guess it worked because today my mom called me narcissistic and I realized I'm not even sure if it's an act or not anymore. I literally don't know how I feel about myself

I can identify so much with this, and you know? I'm not sure it's a bad thing. I mean, keep a reasonable amount of perspective and objectivity, but in my experience most people are fairly rad in a number of ways that make up for whatever things are shitty about them, and it's usually best both for the individual and those around them if they embrace and appreciate their own radness.

Oh yeah, I mean, I agree with you 100% I'm pretty sure cutting the insecurity out of my life has helped a bunch and I don't regret it, but I just feel like it's a really weird situation.

I recommend feeling vaguely awkward and introspective, and then conclude that being arrogant isn't part of your personality, but being jokingly-arrogant is. Then just make sure people find the jokes funny, and it should all be good.
