Re: Non-fandom secrets
(Anonymous) 2013-07-07 08:11 am (UTC)(link)I don't have a problem with the US PRISM program. I also think Snowden is a spy(he said he took the job just to reveal secrets, that is not a whistle-blower) and is definitely not a hero.
These are thought that US citizens on the internet are not supposed to have, and certainly not Liberals (though I'm a bit between left of center and center). If I were to actually say this off anon or in my own journal I would be ripped to shreds, so I just keep quiet because I'm afraid of the verbal abuse I would receive.

I figure there just isn't a non-asshole way to do it. You have to be an asshole to deal with the real assholes, this is how life works.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-07 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)I don't think there is, either. That's why I'm torn. I'm very emotional about the whole thing because I don't trust the government and actually fear it to an extent, which in turn makes me very angry. But I'm also the kind of person who just follows rules, like it's in my blood that I can never break a law and when someone violates laws and a contract that includes trust, as Snowden did, it makes me angry. So...yeah. Torn.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-07 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)The laws weren't really secret though, anyone who actually payed attention to the patriot act knew that the government would be able to do this legally and probably were. I was surprised so many people were actually shocked by it.
