You'd have to blame something, because I have no idea how you'd get that any other way.

While I didn't think it was what you thought, it took me a while to understand what the hell they were saying, because I didn't know the title. After I did and listened closely, sure, I know what they're saying. But you're not alone in finding it initially confusing... if not for the title I'm not sure I ever would have known.

I laughed so hard I cried.

I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Randomly: I liked this song when I heard it on a commercial advertising VIKINGS, but I fell in love with it when I saw it used in this amazing Evangelion video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rMcBwbZbKM&noredirect=1) (spoilers for the first 2 rebuilds).

Well *holy crap*. I want to watch that now. :)

If you've never seen Evangelion you are missing out, even as someone who doesn't like anime.

Most anime kind of gets on my nerves - or maybe just the ones that my daughter's showed me - but this looks *very* cool. :)

Hahah are you guys ESLs? I know that feel brah, my friends used to pronounge Breaking Dawn as Breaking Down. I was really confused as to why Meyer changed the title themes for a while.

Yeah... when I first heard the song on the radio, I thought that they were singing Malay words for the Radioactive chorus. Only when I got home did I found out the real lyrics.

[Picture is the cover image of the song "Radioactive" by "Imagine Dragons", from their Extended Play "Continued Silence". It's a person laying on their back and levitating in the middle of a forest with purple illumination. They are holding on to a briefcase.]

My sister loves this song and sings it all the time. It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that the "ray-di-o-ac-tive" part was not, actually, "baby you like this". I blame her terrible singing.

Just want to say thank you for doing this. Not because of this post, or any other particular one, just thank you for all your work.

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-07-16 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
I appreciate the words, anon. :)

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Me:Pssh, when do they say "baby you like this?" How can you possible get that? *Sings chorus to self* ...I'm ready to rock you...ready to rock...wait...wait they're saying "radioactive"?!

Well I learned something today!

(Anonymous) 2013-07-24 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
Really, really, actually tried to decide if they were saying "ready to rock you" or "ready to rock it" UNTIL I SAW THEM IN CONCERT. It's somehow 100% clear in real life.

Don't feel too bad. Misheard lyrics are a thing.
I'm German and I swear to everything I love that whenever I hear Michael Jackson's "Dirty Diana" I understand "da geht der Gärtner" (="there goes/walks the gardener")...

Something about the way Michael Jackson sang, I always had to look up the lyrics to his songs to figure out what he was saying. Always.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
That made me LOL. Thanks, OP.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I kept hearing it as "I need a break down" for the longest time. My friend kept hearing "I need a walk through." I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who had no idea what the hell they were saying.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-10 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
I sort of thought it was something like that too.

I never really had a clear idea of what I though it was, it just sounded like a garbled mess, and when I looked it up I was like "how the fuck do they think that sounds anything like 'radioactive?'" Now it sounds obvious of course.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-10 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
I had trouble with a few bits in that song. I heard the 'chemicals' in the first verse as 'catacombs' and now I can't unhear it. And the "I feel it in my bones" bit. The pronounce the last word kind of oddly and merge it into the next one so I always here it more like 'frozen.'
