My beta always tells me that my fics are awesome. She compliments my prose; my writing style. But I've been in fandom for four months now, and my words have never been recommended. Never. Not even once.

...I think I need to get a new beta.

"Rec lists" or "Recommendation lists" are a big deal in certain fandoms, particularly the larger ones. They are sometimes the difference between popularity and near total obscurity, especially if the stories don't fit the popular themes, pairings or characters fans are most often seeking.
