Ugh, yeah, the "starved & despairing" look that seems common in fashion shoots is really unattractive to me.

"Look at how much I don't care about the world, watch me listlessly smoke a cigarette as I stand against a minimalist backdrop, wow so edgy!"

idk it just feels so... insincere, and like it's part of this wider glamorisation of mental illness and drugs and eating disorders as being "chic".
