Let me guess, you are haunting your fandom's fan fic recs page over on tv tropes and getting all butthurt because no one is putting your double plus good fic on it? Well tough, for a start that is a badge of shame if every there was one given how anal tvtropes contribs are and for another most fics don't get recced there or anywhere else. Nothing to do with your beta, unless you were expecting them to do it. And that would be a shitty thing for you to think they ought to do.

Even when a fic does get recced, chances are it is waaaaaaay down the road. Years even. Long after you've graduated high school, left college, got a real job, and stopped writing altogether. Write for the people that wander by and browse, don't expect a ticker tape parade.

Oh so much this. And if you tell them to kinda not slather their dipshittery over you and take the rec down they throw a massive tantrum about it.

TV Tropes is super hit and miss, with emphasis on the "miss", since ANYONE can put up a recommendation and it can't be taken down as long as they leave their username attached to it.

I've found a few interesting stories, but the truth is... those I would have found eventually through other means, without the skeevy aftertaste of visiting that website.
