I've been in some fandoms for 5 years and never been recced, and I know I'm a decent writer. It's not your beta, and it's not you. It's the readers. (Hear me out.)

Take me, for example. I'm a reccer. If I like a fic, I rec it on my personal page and to the big comms if I can. But the vast majority of readers are NOT reccers. They might share a link with a friend, or maybe on their tumblr, but odds are against you. Remember:

First your fic has to be read by someone who recs in the well-known places. Then they have to like your fic enough to make the effort of reccing worth it. And some places, like crack-van or epic-recs, have limited posting access. It could be your fics are in their list to rec, when they have the opportunity.

Just keep doing your best. If you crave validation, hold your kudos, comments, reviews, favorites, bookmarks, alerts, and star-ratings close. Okay? Just keep writing!
