DA This is me as well. And I think it's why I'm rarely ever invested in television and movie romances. People always think I'm weird because I don't ship the most popular ships but I'm sorry I don't really like dysfunctional relationships? Like if something couldn't work in reality then I don't want to see it working in fiction either.

The drama can definitely be fun, but my big pet peeve is that most of these stories end up with the couple being each other's "true love" and they get together at the end. That frustrates me to no end. I have a lot more respect for writers when they break up the couple permanently.

This is exactly the problem for me, too! It's so inconsistent, you can't have your cake and eat it, too, making these people horrible for each other just to milk the drama for easy story lines, and then turn around and say they were meant to be all along. Nope, nope, a world of nope. Let the dysfunction meet its inevitable conclusion.
