Recs are a dying breed in a tumblr age fandom. I used to get rec'ed like a motherfucker, back when I was in HP fandom and friends with semi-BNF types. Now I'm in small fandoms, where there are no BNF type statuses on people, and I don't even see recommendations anywhere. Maybe once or twice people will link to a fic on tumblr. I don't think quality of fic has much to do with recs.

Recs are nothing to go by, in other words, and don't blame your beta. Go by the comments you get, the feedback. If there are people enjoying your fics, be happy. If recs and BNFdom are your goals, question your reasons to be in fandom in the first place.
