I like it for the story, the amazing characters, and the quiet lulz that the animation quality brings. I don't like it for the violence or for the crazies. And quite frankly, half the violence in Higurashi was kind of disturbing to me too (fingernail scene, anyone?) and I would NEVER even imagine doing that to a real person.

Then again, I also like School Days and Junji Ito manga, so don't listen to me. o/

Oh Lord, there's a fingernail scene? D: I'm halfway through the first series. I hate having to hide from anime; it makes me feel like a total wuss, but I can't STAND fingernail torture. (Or eye torture, or bone torture...)
