I found the Malfoys far more fascinating than Harry ever was. Ron...got better. He kind of had to grow on me.

The whole series would have been vastly improved upon if Neville had turned out to be the hero...shit, now I'm thinking of an epic misunderstanding type fic where it's written from Harry's point of view but Neville's the one who finally offs Voldemort.

I neither have the skill nor the familiarity with the canon to do it justice. Recs along those lines, maybeplz?

If Neville had turned into the hero, he might have turned into a crappy character too. I have to agree with a comment upthread of here that the more JKR wrote about characters the less interesting they became.
