Re: Most hated fic premises

I hate the AUs where everything was a lie, all the good characters (besides whatever token character the author is writing about) are evil and all the evil characters are good. I loath Omegaverse AUs.

For me, there are some things I can like regardless of the quality (Superhero AUs, AUs placing a different fandom in the Potter universe, genderbent AUs where everyone is genderbent, what if AUs where one small aspect of fandom is changed). But I can't handle them if I think they get the character wrong. For example, any Supernatural AUs that have Castiel as the librarian or whatever other mild-mannered thing you want while Dean and Sam get the ass-kicking roles like cops, and I'm out (then again, I find that 90% of the fandom in general writes Cas as far too mild mannered and not remotely canon). Or I won't read if the characters are not recognizable as themselves.

Oh, yes, and I've never found a highschool AU I actually enjoyed. I'm not necessarily entirely against the concept, but I've never seen it work well and generally am not interested.

I don't mind the idea of HS AUs either, but yeah IA that it's really hard to get right. Usually, if the characters are school-aged in canon, there's a better chance of it working properly, but for fandoms like SPN and MCU it's just so... why.
