I think for a lot of kids, it's much more the character that's appealing-- Robin Hood's personality and actions and voice-- than necessarily the physical depiction as an anthro fox.

I agree with this. He was also my first childhood crush (I couldn't have been more than six or seven, lol) and it's definitely the personality. The accent definitely helps, but I always wanted a hero of my own. :P

To many people it's still like that.
They don't see animal or human or a mix of the two, they just see a character they like.

My first childhood crush was a digimon. A piece of data in the shape of, well, many things because they could "digivolve".
And thinking back, maybe I really should rewatch the series she appeared in ;)

Heck yeah, people whose first crushes were digimon! o/ Mine was Vamdemon/Myotismon, which explains a lot in hindsight, really. Who was yours?

*googles*
Haha! I always was afraid of this digimon when I was a kid.

Mine was Gatomon a.k.a. Tailmon. But I really liked all her forms. I just loved the character to pieces.
Of course it's easier to explain my childhood crush on her when I use her Angewomon form. People don't give others shit for liking something that looks like a sexy female angel, lol!

Aaahhh, she was my favorite character! I didn't crush on her but I totally don't blame you for doing so. Gatomon is the best and always will be, in any form. ♥

Heh yeah, in my case she went from favorite character/idol to a sort of love interest. And when she shared that body with Aquilamon? That made her even hotter to me. It was like a two in one deal and it was never mentioned if their new body was coded female or male. That was kinky to little me ;)

I really need to rewatch that stuff. I need to test if she still has that effect on me, haha!

Uggghhhhh Silphymon was such a hottie. An androgynous bodysharing feathery hottie. Anon, you have the raddest taste and I hope you know that. ♥
