Sure, you can do whatever you want and that sounds like an acceptable solution to me. You could even just use the "author chose not to use archive warnings) tag which means there could be triggers in the story and people should be wary, but the author is choosing not to disclose specifics. If someone ignores that and gets upset anyway, then that's not really your fault. Or just put a disclaimer saying your fic has disturbing material.

I'm curious as to what fandom you're writing in though where a lot of the characters die...Walking Dead? Attack on Titan? The Last of Us?
