Yeah, like when he killed Talbot, who for all intents and purposes was as "innocent" as your average vampire on the show (no worse than Eric or Pam at least).

I mean if he had murdered a WOMAN during sex, and not a man, the outrage would be through the roof. But because Talbot was Talbot, it was justified because Russell hurt Eric's feelings centuries ago.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Seriously.

Know what? Want to hate Eric, go ahead. He's not everyone's cup of tea and he can be a real asshole. But don't fucking downplay murdering Eric's family (including his INFANT sister) into "hurting Eric's feelings". Russell killed his human family and Eric had enough FEELINGS about it to hunt Russell for a thousand years, up until at least WWII. Murdering Talbot was totally justified as far as I'm concerned. It wasn't about Talbot, it was about hurting Russell and the only way to hurt Russell was to take Talbot from him. Talbot actually dying was just collateral damage to Eric, he had no feeling for the dude one way or another otherwise.

And Bill gets just as much flack for fucking his Sire while twisting her head all the way around so TB is an equal opportunity show as far as abuse goes.

And how many people's families has Eric killed over the years? He has no problem with human deaths, he was just pissed because Russell killed his humans. It's petty revenge, not justice. Murdering Talbot, an innocent vampire, (in terms of Eric's family's death at least,) to punish Russell for killing a bunch of innocent humans was wrong and massively hypocritical by human standards, and by vampire standards it was basically the equivalent of murdering someone's spouse because he ate your favorite cows.

"innocent" vampire. So basically Eric is shit for killing humans over the years but Talbot...he's a vegetarian or something? Russell and Steve went out and killed a frat house last season on one of their "dates". What do you suppose Russell and Talbot - who Russell loved a thousand times more than Steve - must have done for centuries?

And it's totally valid that Eric was pissed that Russell killed his family - not his "humans", they weren't his pets, they were his mother and father and sister. There was nothing petty about his need for revenge. "Petty" wouldn't have lasted a thousand years. The vampires in this 'verse are proven to be VERY family oriented. There's no question of "soul" or "soulless" here. Vampires love and they retain their human memories and feelings for loved ones. That doesn't "go away" as conveniently as it does in the Jossverse.

People try to justify Eric's actions by acting as if Talbot was "evil" when there's nothing to suggest that he was any worse than Eric or Pam.

What does Bill having rough sex have to do with anything?

(Anonymous) 2013-07-13 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Would it be justified in your eyes if Talbot was a girl?
