I think it's really gross how you downplay that ERIC WAS GOING TO KILL HER. Kill her? Not worth being offended about. Grab her crotch? UNLEASH THE HOUNDS!

Because at this point Eric murdering innocent people is par for the course. Him effectively threatening sexual violence on a teenage girl is a new low for him.

Bad comparison, first because that was not a child. Second because the dispute in this particular thread was the severity of the crime. Molesting children: Very bad. Worse then murdering them? I'm sure there are people glad to be alive despite a traumatic past.

Justify what, exactly? Because it appears we're having two separate conversations. Here's mine:

Eric was compared to an imaginary Hanibal Lecter who molested children. I.E. People like Eric and people like Hanibal, but would they like Hanibal if he molested children? = implying that Eric was molesting a child. This is a false comparison, because being a teenage virgin does not make somebody a child, despite whatever magic *~vibes~* you or the anon above you, if you're not the same person, were feeling.

That's it. I'm not justifying sexual assault, murder or pedophilia. I'm disputing faulty logic.

I don't think her age was given. But I didn't get teenager from her. Early 20's maybe. Definitely legal. And not to stir the pot, but she was definitely into it, not that that would matter to Eric, but that does take the edge off the perceived crime...

well, many of his fans are kind of out there so...yeah, I'm guessing a great deal of them would still like him. or they would make excuses for him. or some people might be turned on by it.

Most of them didn't make excuses for him framing Will/possibly murdering Abigail, so....

They love him despite the fact that he's a cannabalistic murderer (or because of it) so i would be surprised if rape deterred the majority of them.

That's why Mason Verger was a huge hit with them, right?

He was gross looking and creepy while hannibal is handsome and charismatic. and youre supposed to like hannibal while you are supposed to be disgusted by verger. and, again, people hate pedophiles. there was also a whole lot more decelopment for hannibals character

bad example, hannibal fans will put up with almost anything. i mean, the dude kills and eats people for goodness sake. cant really go downhill from that

Hannibal's far from the worst villain out there. Heck he was basically made into a hero in the last two books.

Again the thread that you are commenting on is not about likability. The secret may have been. This thread is not. But there's nothing left to say if you're unwilling to acknowledge that.

That's a whole other ball game. If had molested a child rather than someone who looked to be nearly an adult (and who was portrayed by an adult), then there probably would have been a lot more people outraged and disgusted because people widely view child rape as a more evil and taboo act

He was threatening murder. And once you're threatening murder, the method doesn't really matter.

But the secret isn't complaining about murder - it doesn't even mention it.
