Yeah Stargate. I've SO never seen any of it. Why are there so many versions? Is there really time travel or did I make that up?

There is time travel, but it's not used very often, and has consequences. It's a great show, I recommend watching all ten seasons, if you can! :-)

There was at least one episode involving time travel in SG-1. But the civilizations they came across on different planets were usually less advanced than on Earth (mostly either stuck around Ancient Egypt or the Middle Ages; it made sense in context), so if you've never seen the show that might have thrown you off?

Sort of? It's not used often, and is usually a specific event causing the portal [the stargate] to screw up and connect to a different time period.

The majority of what you've seen is mostly people from ancient cultures that were kidnapped by evil aliens to basically act as herds for those aliens [...to provide bodies for the parasite evil aliens to take over.]

The versions thing...It was a popular show and they wanted to try the concept out in different situations out with varying degrees of success?
