Don't feel bad. I'm a huge fan of both. The only people who are still uppity about it are being childish. The Used/MCR don't even really care anymore. Only Bert and Gerard ever did, really.
You can love both. It's okay.

Can anyone tell me what the feud was about, exactly? I never knew and was always a fan of both.

Gerard and Bert used to be good friends. Some said they were lovers. Either way, they seemed to fuel each other's addictive behaviors.

According to Gerard, after he got clean, he tried to remain friends with Bert. But although Bert didn't try to pressure him to drink or take drugs, being around Bert made him want to relapse, and so he broke contact with him.

Bert didn't take it too well. If I remember correctly, at one point he went to a My Chemical Romance show with a megaphone and tried to get people to leave the concert. He also publicly insulted and criticized him during hiw own shows. Some say that he wrote 'Pretty Handsome Awkward' to criticize Gerard.

It's hard to know how much of this is truth, how much is rumor, and how much is each singer's twisted perspective of the situation. IMHO, neither party was completely innocent.

Honestly stuff like this makes me glad to not be interested in band fandom. I enjoy songs from both myself.

I feel extremely judged by the MCRmy every time I say I like The Used. I don't think Gerard is telling the whole story.
