Roadtrip Tools

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2013-07-13 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
My sis and I are going on a road trip at the end of the month from OK to SC. This is the first time we don't have to be in too much of a hurry.

I was wondering if anyone knew any apps (especially this for Androids) or websites that allows you to plug in your path and it shows you attractions to visit on your way there.

Thanks muchly!

Seconding roadsideamerica.com for the quirky and the offbeat and the downright strange. I've had some extra photogenic road trips thanks to them!

How far into SC are you going? Charleston is the only good part imo.

My home state. I was born and raised in SC, so not really looking at any cool stuff there. Looking for stuff on the way there.

I don't know of any apps, but have a blast traveling! I lived in SC for four years and have gone back once every year for the past four years. I've done plenty of roadtrips out of SC and all I have to say is have a blast!! I loved the route from Greenville to Nashville.

Ah I missed this comment! We also love the route from Greenville to Nashville. :) Very, very scenic. It sucks we will be going back a different way because we will be hauling a trailer.

I drove with a friend from Greenville to Nashville during October last year. OMG the scenery out by Chattanooga? SO PICTURESQUE!! We drove from Greenville to Atlanta, up to Chattanooga and then over to Nashville.

Good luck going cross country and wish I could help more!

The drive from Greenville, SC to Asheville, NC is another pretty trip too.

Can you tell I love roadtrips?

Way Late Advice

(Anonymous) 2013-07-14 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't know if this is pertinent or not, but when I've roadtripped, I've always found that the cheapest hotels/motels are on the outskirts of the cities along the main highway. Like, $45/night vs. $60-80/night.

If that's the sort of thing you're looking for that is.

Thank you anon. :) And we are not yet sure whether we will be stopping much or not. But the advice is welcome for if we do.
