What's your favorite Dickens book?

(Anonymous) 2013-07-13 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Mine is Great Expectations, but that's a rather boring and common choice for people who read a lot of Dickens. I heard that Little Dorrit is supposed to be super-awesome, so I've been planning on reading it next, but I haven't started yet.

How about you guys?

Tale of Two Cities!

I'm not really a huge Dickens fan, though, which is weird, because I usually like all that kind of thing. But for some reason, Dickens just does not really interest me that much.

Maybe I should give him another go.

A Tale of Two Cities as well! Carton is an amazing character.

Carton is so great! The ending affected me so much when I first read it (also I was like 13 or 14 which probably didn't help). I mean, it shattered my mind.

That's the only Dickens book I have ever read (maybe I should put more on my reading list? :3c ) but it's one of my favorite books that I've read, ever.

And here I have to admit that I've never read Dickens. I do very much like his style (from what I've seen of Great Expectations), I simply didn't get my hands on his works yet.
Which, considering the fact that reading is my main hobby, is kind of ridiculous.
On the upper side, it means that I have all the Dickens ahead of me.

I've always secretly felt bad about finding Dickens so dull and boring. I don't think I've made it all the way through any of his works. Which I do not usually admit.

Probably A Christmas Carol. Or yeah, Great Expectations.

Though i had to read several in school so I will say Great Expectations as well.

Hard Times is the only one I read all the way through. I liked it.

Hated Great Expectations, but then I last read it in grade school. Perhaps I should give it another chance. I think A Christmas Carol is all right.

Really? No one's into Oliver Twist? I liked Great Expectations and Hard Times wasn't bad, but I didn't enjoy either of them as much as Oliver Twist. I started Bleak House a while back but didn't get very far in before switching books. Little Dorrit is also on my list to try.

It;s a tie between Bleak House and David Copperfield.
